FRA and STC/PennDOT studies request comments
The Federal Railroad Administration is continuing to request comments for its Amtrak Daily Long-Distance Service Study to evaluate the potential for new Amtrak long-distance routes as well as the restoration of daily long-distance service along routes that were discontinued (e.g. Chicago - Akron - Pittsburgh - New York Three Rivers) or operate three days per week (e.g. Chicago - Cincinnati - Charleston - New York Cardinal). The Pennsylvania State Transportation Commission and PennDOT announce the 2023 Public Comment Period, through Sunday, April 30, 2023, to update the 12-Year Transportation Program. Comments from individuals and organizations are encouraged for both studies to highlight the importance of the growth and improvement of Pennsylvania passenger rail service.
