Amtrak signs a deal for a new fleet of multi-powered trains to replace 50-year-old rail cars

Amtrak is spending $7.3 billion on a new fleet of up to 83 train sets to replace its nearly 50-year-old rolling stock on the Northeast Corridor and a number of state-supported routes, the national passenger railroad announced Wednesday.

‘It’s A Joke’: Passengers, Critics Call For Overhaul Of Pittsburgh’s Amtrak Station

Attached is a KDKA report by Andy Sheehan about the condition of the Pittsburgh Amtrak station. Comments are included by Henry Posner, Chairman of Pittsburgh-based Railroad Development Corporation. The report says information provided by Amtrak indicates some improvements to the station are planned over the next few years, but suggests not to the extent that would appreciably enhance the experience and impressions of Pittsburgh rail travelers.
