Pittsburgh Mayor Gainey transition plan calls for improved transit access to an upgraded Amtrak station

"Improve connections between existing transit lines in Downtown connecting people to public transportation from Allegheny and surrounding counties, Greyhound, and Amtrak. The area from the Convention Center to the Amtrak station can include pedestrians, bikes, and even kayaks in a welcoming place for residents and visitors. Encourage Amtrak to invest in its downtown Amtrak Station to make a more friendly place for its expanded service." (page 105)
