Governor Wolf announces Commonwealth, Norfolk Southern operating agreement to expand western PA passenger rail access

Governor Tom Wolf today announced that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Norfolk Southern Corporation (NS) have reached an agreement to expand passenger rail access in western Pennsylvania.

Amtrak advisory - bike capacity expanded on Capitol Limited trains 29 and 30

Due to high demand, Amtrak is adding bicycle capacity on the Capitol Limited trains 29 and 30, effective immediately through mid-September.  Each departure will offer 12 spots for bike reservations.

New Reading, Pottstown, Philadelphia Amtrak Thruway Bus service

A new Amtrak Thruway Bus service will launch on Monday, June 6, with two daily roundtrips connecting Reading and Pottstown to Amtrak's network via Philadelphia, including service to Pittsburgh through a connection with the Pennsylvanian.

Pittsburgh Mayor Gainey transition plan calls for improved transit access to an upgraded Amtrak station

"Improve connections between existing transit lines in Downtown connecting people to public transportation from Allegheny and surrounding counties, Greyhound, and Amtrak. The area from the Convention Center to the Amtrak station can include pedestrians, bikes, and even kayaks in a welcoming place for residents and visitors. Encourage Amtrak to invest in its downtown Amtrak Station to make a more friendly place for its expanded service." (page 105)
